The Italian Job - 2011

On 22nd June this year 24 teams and support vehicles set out from Northfleet on a five-day journey, navigating its way through six countries, to the Lingotto building in Turin (facing various challenges along the way) and lapping the famous rooftop track constructed by Fiat in an epic rally inspired by the 1969 British 'caper' movie, The Italian Job.

The teams, from Keyline customers, suppliers and colleagues were joined by teams from within the Travis Perkins Group on the challenge to raise £100,000 for their charity partner, The Prostate Cancer Charity. The cars were 'waved off' by the charity's ambassador and celebrity builder, Tommy Walsh.

Brooks Bros (UK) were proud to support the classic mini of customer Jeld-Wen UK in its individual goal to raise £2,500. The drive (actual miles covered 1,615/actual driving time 43.5 hours) was not without its drama for the Jeld-Wen team: from the middle of day two a split bypass hose meant regular stops to check and top-up with water The last stint was non-stop (except for 14 check stops) from Turin to Calais, departing Turin at 09.05 and pulling into the ferry checkpoint at 05.00 the next day.

Congratulations to all who took part and helped 'overtake' the target (£100,000) by raising £111,000 for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
